Villa Fuchs

More than a hundred years ago, future-oriented Merzig townspeople founded a secondary school for their sons. Doctors, engineers, and civil servants were to be sent to the Saar not only from Prussia but also the region’s next generation was to go on to university and obtain a good position. The school has survived all the political turbulence of the century from the Empire, Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, the Saar District, and now to the German Federal Republic. Its aim is to remain loyal to the original commission: to open the doors to the future for the children of Merzig and the area.
Today, about 70 teachers instruct around 1,100 students, both boys and girls. The grammar school is thus an easily accessible, manageable school: rooted in the region and fit for the future.
